Malaysian auto firms want to tap Vietnamese market

VGP - A Malaysia business delegation including 21 exporters of automobile spare parts has recently met Việt Nam’s auto producers and assemblers in to seek potential partners, stating that the local market has a large room for growth.

Vietnamese auto market is considered very promising

At the meeting held by the Commercial Affairs Section (Matrade) under the Malaysian General Consulate in Hồ Chí Minh City, most of the Malaysian firms said the Vietnamese auto market is very promising and they would supply components and spare parts to vehicle manufacturers and assemblers in Việt Nam.

The market is recovering from the global economic crisis, and the number of auto owners in the country is still very low, they noted.

Mr. Dư Quốc Thịnh, General Secretary of the Việt Nam Auto Engineers Association, predicted that some 100,000 autos will be consumed in the country this year.
