Vietnam President begins India visit in Bangalore

President Truong Tan Sang Tuesday began a three-day visit to India, which aims to strengthen the two countries' bilateral strategic partnership relationship, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

After arriving in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state, Sang met up with the state’s governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj.

He told the Indian governor that Vietnam always wants to strengthen its traditional friendship and strategic partnership with India. He also encouraged Indian businesses to invest in Vietnam and build a hi-tech area there, VNA reported.

Bhardwaj said that big Indian companies are willing to learn about and meet Vietnam’s demand for high technologies, including telecommunication and information technologies.

The governor said that over 500 Vietnamese students are studying in India at present with a variety of majors, including software technology.

Bangalore has welcomed many Vietnamese economic delegations to learn and establish cooperative trade ties, he added.

Later the same day Sang and the Vietnamese delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Finance Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, visited the offices of Infosys Limited, a global technology services company headquartered in Banglore.
