Viet kieu ex-CEO wanted by police, absconding

Tran Jimmy, a 55-year-old American citizen, is wanted by the Vietnamese police after his former employer complained he had “abused the company’s reputation to misappropriate others’ property” and “illegally smuggled money across borders,” but he is absconding.

Jimmy, who was born Tran Dung in Quang Binh Province, was CEO of Vietnam Land before being fired on suspicions of embezzlement.

He allegedly embezzled tens of billions of dong (VND1 billion = US$51,280) by inflating the value of contracts he signed with the company’s partners between November 2008 and early 2010.
