US companies enthusiastic to invest in Vietnam

Nhan Dan Online – “Despite the very difficult global economic environment, US companies remain enthusiastic about opportunities to invest in and do business with Vietnam,” said Stuart Dean, President of GE ASEAN and Chairman of the US-Vietnam Business Committee.

Mr. Dean and Matthew P. Daley, President of The US-ASEAN Business Council are leading its mission to talk with Vietnam’s top decision makers about business opportunities in Vietnam. The mission works in Vietnam from May 13 - 15, 2009.

This year, the annual business mission organised by the Washington, D.C.-based organisation registers over 30 senior executives from 16 corporations namely Abbott Laboratories, AES, AIG, Caterpillar, Chevron, Citi, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Ford, General Electric, Guardian Industries, JhPIEGO, Monsanto, Pratt & Whitney, Time Warner and UPS.

The mission is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and senior members of the Government to discuss investment, sourcing and sales opportunities in a wide range of sectors including agriculture, infrastructure, energy, transport, aviation, financial and banking services, health services, express delivery service and logistics, auto industry, building materials, mining and media, according to Mr. Daley.
