$81 million food safety project approved

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved a US$81.25 million program to help raise and standardise food hygiene and safety nationwide.

The National Programme on Food Hygiene and Safety aims to meet international and regional standards in order to protect consumers and their health. The programme’s goal is to have nearly all manufacturers, trading enterprises, managers, and consumers both understand and abide by new food hygiene and safety codes as soon as possible.

Viet Nam, Norway ratify repatriation pact

Viet Nam and Norway recently ratified an agreement between their respective governments permitting both countries to repatriate their citizens. The agreement was signed in Ha Noi in July and is expected to promote bilateral co-operation in migration.

New Government officials named

Nguyen The Doanh was recently appointed the new head of the government’s Religious Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Another new appointee, Nguyen Toan Thang, will become deputy governor of the Viet Nam State’s Bank.
