2008 Vietnam economic report released

Nhan Dan Online – The Central Economic Research Institute released its ‘2008 Vietnam economic report’ on May 13.

According to the report, the budget deficit in 2009 is predicted to be rather big due partly to the effects of the Government’s economic stimulus packages.

At the press briefing, Dr Dinh Van An, Head of the Central Economic Research Institute, said that the current global economic crisis had originated from the financial crisis in the US but it had only affected the real sector of the Vietnamese economy, in which export and production activities were most affected.

So, the Vietnamese economy has opportunities to get out of the crisis sooner than many other economies which are suffering big impacts of the crisis on their financial sector, he emphasised
