THO CITY - INDUSTRIAL PARKS IN CAN THO VIETNAM
GENERAL
The total planned area: 1.346 ha, consisting of 5 areas: Tra Noc
Industrial Park I: 135 ha; Industrial Park II: 165 ha; Hung Phu Industrial
Park I: 390 ha; Hung Phu Industrial Park II: 585 ha; Vi Thanh Industrial
Park: 88 ha; Now, the technical infrastructure in Tra Noc Industrial Park I
has been completely done and 95% of industrial land area has been hired. Tra
Noc Industrial Park I is being evaluated as one of the successfully
industrial zones in the Mekong River Delta. In Hung Phu Industrial Park I &
II, many domestic and foreign investors have come to hire the land for
building factories; the detailed plans have been done to build the
infrastructure in Vi Thanh industrial park.
During six years of operating, to 8/2002, there are 75 investment projects
which have been operating with total registered capital of USD 192 million,
including 17 FDI projects with the total capital of USD 78,23 million from
nations, fields such as France, American, Cuba, Japan, Korea, ThaiLand,
Hongkong, Taiwaim, Chinese, Malaysia, Singapore.... There are about 12.000
employees in industrial parks.
1. Tra Noc Industrial Park I & II:
Tra Noc Industrial Park I: Total planned area: 300 ha, situated 10 km to
the North from the Can Tho city center, along side Nation Route 91 A to An
Giang, Kien Giang provinces and boarded the right side of the Hau river to
Cambodia and to the East Sea; 2 km from the airport and 3 km to the seaport;
next side to Tra Noc Industrial Park II in Phuoc Thoi Village, Omon district.
Tra Noc Industrial Park II with the area of 165 ha, has allured 5 projects
capitalized at $ USD 27,5 million. And, one project is in operation.
1.1. The advantages about its site:
Boarded on Hau riverbank, main branch for the international business
place, 3 km from Can Tho port to the East Sea.
Along Nation Route 91A to the provinces of the Mekong delta.
Can Tho has favorable conditions of banks, telecommunication and technical
officials and skilled workers to serve industrial production activity...
1.2. Oriented development:
It is encouraged to develop industrial factors that don't causes pollution
for air, land and water. It is preferential to invest factors as follows:
+ Processing food and foodstuff.
+ Industrial factors for electricity, spare part, means of transportation.
+ Industrial factors for construction material.
+ Industrial factors for consumer products.
2. Hung Phu Industrial Park I & II:
2.1. The advantages about its site:
Hung
Phu I & II Industrial Parks: with total area of 975 ha, consisting of Hung
Phu I: 390 ha; Hung Phu II: 585 ha.
Hung Phu I & II Industrial Parks: are located along the right site of the Hau
River, 3 km from the South to Can Tho city. Connecting with Phu An ward, Dong
Phu commune, Chau Thanh district and next side to new urban area with banks,
hotels, school and hospital......
In Hung Phu industrial park I: Cai Cui National port has been constructing
with big scale, receiving ships of over 10.000 tons; with fulfill of
warehouse system to met the requirements of transferring goods 4-5 million
tons per year. National Route 91B connecting with Can Tho Bridge, National
Route 1 and Quang Trung Bridge. Infrastructure conditions as electric, water,
telephone are also approved by provincial people's Committee to expand for
building in 2002.
Along with Cai Cui National Port. Hung Phu Industrial Park I have some
investment projects worth USD 45 million and other investors are promoting
for land leasing. Hung Phu Industrial Park II has 3 projects worth USD 20,92
million, in which, 2 projects are in operation. Viet Nam Shipping Industrial
Company also signed memorandum of understanding about location for leasing 20
ha land to construct Can Tho shipping industrial area in order to serve for
all of provinces in Mekong delta.
2.2. Oriented development:
It is encouraged to develop:
+ The industry for processing food, foodstuff, fishery, sea products,
fruit beverage for export.
+ The industry of knitting, garment, leather.
+ The industry for chemical, chemical products.
+ The industry for consumer goods.
+ The industry for construction materials.
+ The industry for port, shipyards, amending.
+The industry for mechanism, manufacturing, installing to serve
agricultural sectors.
+ Other industrial factors that are suitable to the development of modern
industrial park in the future.
It is encouraged to develop fields as electric technology, new material
and biological technology. Fields in studying, applying science technology,
training and other services favorable with the regulations of high
technological park.
3.Vi Thanh Industrial Zone:
Vi Thanh Industrial Park has 196 ha, the first phase of 88 ha, is located
in Hoa Tien Village, Vi Thanh Commune, 60 km from Can Tho City in the south.
3.1. The advantages about its site:
Industrial park is situated in the center of agricultural production, next
side to many provinces, with plentiful agro, aqua- product resources. It not
only provides processing industry after harvesting, but also supports
agricultural and rural industrialization.
Landway, there is National Routes No 61 stretching commune, joining Can Tho
City and other provinces such as Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu...
Water way, there is water port with its capacity of thousand of tons. This
line joins the main waterway of the Mekong delta to Ca Mau Province.
3.2 Oriented development:
The product processing industry from aqua-agro-material such as processing
food from beef, port, buffalo, cattle, poultry and sea products; processing
variety of juice, vegetable and roots in canned, dry, frozen forms; the
project of post harvest preservation; processing fruit juice for export;
processing vegetable oil from coconuts, bran, foodstuff and dry flour
husking...
- Producing food for cattle, poultry and fish.
- Producing household facilities and other traditional products by new
technology.
- Making ships and amending ship boats in rivers, supplying services as
electricity, water, amending agricutural machine to serve agri-mechanism.
-The industry for mechanism, manufacturing, installing to serve
agricutural production, transportation...
Now there is an RS sugar plant with its capacity of 1.500 ton
sugarcane/day.
